Yorkville Police Investigating Fatal Incident Involving Pedestrian and Amtrak Train

Yorkville, NY – Yorkville, NY — On the morning of Thursday, June 12, 2025, at approximately 10:57 a.m., the Yorkville Police Department responded to reports of a pedestrian struck by an Amtrak passenger train in the area behind Fairview Avenue in the Village of Yorkville.



According to Yorkville Police, the train came to an immediate stop following the collision and contacted emergency services. Responding units located the pedestrian, who was pronounced deceased at the scene.



Rail service in both directions was temporarily suspended for approximately two hours while an on-site investigation was conducted. Train operations have since resumed.



The Yorkville Police Department is leading the investigation and was assisted at the scene by the Whitesboro Police Department, Whitestown Police Department, Amtrak Police, the Yorkville Fire Department, and the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office.



At this time, the identity of the deceased has not been released, pending notification of next of kin. Investigators have not yet determined whether the incident was accidental or intentional and are continuing to gather information.
