POSTED: August 21, 2025

UTICA, NY — A 14-year-old boy was injured in a crash in North Utica early Thursday morning.

Utica Police and Fire Rescue were called to Sewage Plant Road at Leland Avenue shortly after 5:00 a.m., where a vehicle had struck a tree. An eyewitness reported the crash, and early information indicated the vehicle may have been stolen. The teen reportedly suffered a broken leg.

Update: Utica Police have since confirmed the vehicle was stolen. Officers say the teen was found alone when they arrived, but investigators are working to determine if others may have been in the vehicle and fled before police got there. The teen was transferred from Wynn Hospital to Upstate Hospital in Syracuse for further treatment.
