UTICA, NY — A downtown Utica business was left with a hefty cleanup bill after a disturbing incident last month, and now police say the person responsible has been caught.

On May 9, 2025, Utica Police were called to a local business after an individual reportedly urinated and defecated on the carpeting and floors inside the establishment. The act led to an estimated $1,700 in professional cleaning and damage costs.

Surveillance footage from the scene helped investigators quickly identify the suspect. The case was then turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division for follow-up.

On June 24, nearly seven weeks after the incident, police located 36-year-old Latoya Jenkins, who has no known address. Jenkins was arrested and charged with Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree, a felony offense.
