Utica Police Issue Multiple Appearance Tickets to Juveniles in Separate Criminal Investigations

UTICA, NY — June 11, 2025

The Utica Police Department’s Juvenile Aid Unit has issued multiple Appearance Tickets to Oneida County Family Court/Probation in connection with three separate criminal mischief and burglary investigations involving juvenile suspects.


Sunset Avenue Incident – Criminal Mischief (May 27, 2025)


On May 27, 2025, police units were dispatched to a residential facility on the 1600 block of Sunset Avenue following a report of criminal mischief. Officers determined that a 13-year-old male had poured a bottle of water into the facility’s fire and alarm system, causing an estimated $8,300 in damage.


The case was turned over to the Juvenile Aid Unit. The youth was issued an Appearance Ticket for the following charge:


• Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree



Gray Avenue Incident – Criminal Mischief (May 3, 2025)


Officers responded to a residence on the 1200 block of Gray Avenue regarding a separate criminal mischief investigation. A victim reported that a 17-year-old male, known to the household, arrived at the residence and became involved in a verbal dispute.


After leaving the home, the juvenile allegedly damaged two vehicles parked in the driveway. The estimated damage exceeded $1,300. The Juvenile Aid Unit handled the investigation, and on June 10, 2025, the suspect was issued an Appearance Ticket for:


• Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree


Due to the suspect’s age, his identity will not be released.



Conkling Avenue Incident – Burglary & Grand Larceny (September 2024)


In September 2024, Utica Police responded to a burglary complaint at a business on the 1300 block of Conkling Avenue. Suspects reportedly forced entry by breaking a door and window, and stole two vehicles after locating the keys inside.


The vehicles were later recovered, and through investigation, two juvenile suspects were identified. On June 10, 2025, one of the suspects, a 16-year-old male, was located by an investigator with the Juvenile Aid Unit and issued an Appearance Ticket for the following charges:


• Burglary in the Third Degree

• Grand Larceny in the Third Degree

• Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree


Efforts to locate the second juvenile suspect are ongoing.
