Two Men Detained in Armed Burglary Investigation on Sunset Ave.

Utica, NY – June 5, 2025 — At approximately 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Utica Police were dispatched to a residence on the 1600 block of Sunset Avenue following reports of a potential burglary involving armed suspects.
According to reports, the night prior, the same individuals had attempted to force their way into the residence and threatened to shoot the occupants. Upon arrival at the scene, officers located two males in the rear of the residence and immediately detained them for investigation.
During a pat-down search, one of the individuals was found to be in possession of a loaded .25 caliber handgun. The second suspect was discovered to have three outstanding warrants related to an unrelated incident from April.
Both men were transported to the Utica Police Department for processing.
Charges Filed:

Denzel Bun, 29, of Utica, was charged with:
• Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree
• Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree
• Criminal Possession of a Firearm

Jomar Hagood, 25, of Utica, was booked on the following outstanding warrants:
• Endangering the Welfare of a Child
• Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree
• Harassment in the Second Degree
