Traffic Stop in Sangerfield Leads to Drug Arrest

Oneida County, N.Y. — May 14, 2025 –According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, a routine traffic stop led to a drug-related arrest in the Town of Sangerfield on Wednesday afternoon.



At approximately 1:48 p.m. on May 14, a deputy from the Waterville Field Office pulled over a vehicle for operating with a revoked license. During the course of the investigation, the deputy discovered a quantity of crack cocaine, an electronic scale, and a number of clear plastic bags—items commonly associated with drug distribution.



The driver, Douglas J. Brady, 62, of the Town of Marshall, was taken into custody and transported to the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building, where he was formally charged with the following:


• Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree


• Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd Degree (Scale)


• Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd Degree (Bags)



Brady was released with an appearance ticket and issued several traffic summonses. He is scheduled to appear in Sangerfield Town Court at a later date.



The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office extended its thanks to the New York State Police and Main Street Auto Care Towing for their assistance at the scene.
