Three Arrested After Violent Robbery on Lansing Street

UTICA, NY — Utica Police responded to a violent robbery near the intersection of Lansing Street and Nichols Street on the evening of June 25, 2025.
When officers arrived, they spoke with the victim, who reported he had met up with an acquaintance and a group of the acquaintance’s friends. While walking with them, the situation took a turn. The victim was suddenly thrown to the ground as the group began punching and kicking him repeatedly.
During the attack, the suspects ripped the victim’s book bag from him and attempted to steal his cell phone. When he resisted, the assault continued. The victim was eventually able to escape and call for help.
Officers quickly gathered descriptions of the suspects and located a group matching them nearby. Three individuals were positively identified as the main attackers and taken into custody.
The following individuals were charged with Robbery in the Second Degree:
• A 14-year-old juvenile male
• John Wesby, 18, of Utica
• Osman Borrow, 20, of Utica
