PARIS, NY — A 16-year-old male from Utica was airlifted to SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse Monday afternoon following a collision at a busy intersection in the Town of Paris, according to the Oneida County Sheriff Office.
Deputies responded to the crash just after 12:00 p.m. on July 21 at the intersection of State Route 8 and Oneida Street. The investigation revealed that the teen, who was riding a 2024 Taro motorcycle eastbound on Oneida Street, failed to yield the right of way as he crossed into the path of an oncoming vehicle.
That vehicle, a 2009 Volkswagen driven by 62-year-old Susan Carney of West Winfield, was traveling south on State Route 8 when the motorcycle collided with the front of her car.
The teen suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by Mercy Flight. Carney was unharmed in the incident.
The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Edwards Ambulance, Clayville Fire Department, and Mercy Flight.
