State Police Investigating Fatal Car and UTV Collision in Herkimer County

UPDATE | On May 10, 2025, at approximately 10:53 p.m., New York State Police responded to a serious motor vehicle collision on Rose Valley Road in the Town of Russia, Herkimer County.
According to the preliminary investigation, a 2021 Polaris Razor UTV operated by Ian Amendolare, 20, of Newport, was traveling eastbound when it crossed into the westbound lane and collided with a 2018 Subaru driven by Alfonse Nitti, 21, of Utica.
Amendolare was pronounced dead at the scene. Nitti was transported to Wynn Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
Town of Russia, NY – New York State Police are investigating a fatal collision involving a car and a utility task vehicle (UTV) that occurred late Saturday night in the Town of Russia, Herkimer County.
The incident happened on May 10, 2025, at approximately 10:53 p.m., when State Police responded to the scene on Rose Valley Road following reports of a serious crash involving a UTV and a passenger vehicle.
The investigation is being led by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation along with the Collision Reconstruction Unit. As of now, authorities have not released further details, including the identity of those involved or the circumstances leading up to the crash.
