Rome Man Arrested in Connection to 2024 Burglary Investigation

ANNVILLE, N.Y. — May 14, 2025– A Rome man has been arrested in connection with a March 2024 burglary investigation, according to Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol.

On May 14, 2025, members of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office arrested George J. Wishart Jr., 45, of Rome, charging him with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the fourth degree, a class E felony.

The arrest stems from a burglary that occurred in the early morning hours of March 17, 2024, when deputies from the Road Patrol Division responded to a report of suspicious activity at a residence in the Town of Annsville. Witnesses reported seeing two men and a woman loading multiple reels of Copper Clad Steel Wire onto a utility trailer attached to a red Ford F-150 pickup truck. One reel of wire was left behind and secured by deputies.

Later that morning, at approximately 8:41 a.m., deputies responded to Kris-Tech Wire, located on Mill Pond Way in Annsville, for a burglary complaint. An investigation revealed that multiple reels of Copper Clad Steel Wire had been stolen from the property. Evidence and witness accounts linked the same red pickup truck and utility trailer to the burglary.

The case was turned over to the Criminal Investigation Unit, which ultimately led to the arrest of Wishart.

He was processed at the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building, issued an appearance ticket, and released. He is scheduled to appear in Annsville Town Court at a later date.
