UTICA, N.Y. — A 26-year-old Utica woman is facing felony charges after police say she intentionally struck a man with her vehicle earlier this month, leaving him with serious injuries.

On August 3, 2025, Utica Police and Fire units responded to the 1800 block of Bleecker Street for a report of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from multiple injuries.

Investigators learned the incident followed an argument in which rocks and bricks were thrown at several vehicles. Police say the driver, identified as Yailowa Martinez-Torres, then struck the man on purpose.

The victim was transported to Wynn Hospital, where he was treated for several broken bones and contusions.

On August 15, with assistance from the Utica Police Warrants Unit, Martinez-Torres was taken into custody. She is charged with Assault in the First Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, and Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree.

Police say additional charges may be filed against other individuals as the investigation continues.
