New York Mills Man Charged with Felony Criminal Contempt After Violating Court Order in New Hartford

NEW HARTFORD, NY – June 29, 2025 – A New York Mills man is facing two felony charges after police say he violated a court order at the Hartford Mills Apartments on Wednesday evening.

New Hartford Police were initially called to the complex on New Hartford Street to assist EMS with a medical emergency. But while on scene, officers discovered that 36-year-old Max Goracy was present at the apartment even though a Court Ordered Stay Away Order of Protection barred him from being there due to a prior incident involving a family member who lives at the residence.

Further investigation uncovered that Goracy had allegedly violated the same court order on more than one occasion.

On Thursday, members of the New Hartford Police Department’s Criminal Investigation and Patrol Division arrested Goracy. He was taken to the New Hartford Police Department where he was processed and charged with two counts of Criminal Contempt in the First Degree, a Class E Felony.

Following arraignment in New Hartford Town Court, Goracy was remanded to the Oneida County Jail.
