Juvenile Injured in Sylvan Beach Crosswalk Accident

SYLVAN BEACH, NY — July 5, 2025 — At approximately 9:27 p.m., deputies with the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian near 404 Main Street in the Village of Sylvan Beach.
According to investigators, a juvenile male was crossing Main Street on a scooter using a designated crosswalk when he was struck by a 2025 Nissan traveling northbound. The driver, identified as 56-year-old Suzanne Lefave of New Hartford, immediately called 911 to report the incident.
The juvenile was treated on the scene and transported to SUNY Upstate Medical University with non-life-threatening injuries. Due to his age, his identity is being withheld.
Lefave was issued a traffic citation for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the Sylvan Beach Police Department and Vineall Ambulance.
