UTICA, NY — June 24, 2025 — Emergency crews rushed to Applebee’s in North Utica just after 6:00 p.m. Tuesday following reports of an explosion outside the restaurant.
The building was quickly evacuated, and thankfully, everyone made it out safely. Despite the loud blast, there were no visible signs of smoke or fire when crews arrived.
Initial reports suggest the explosion came from a carbon dioxide (CO²) tank located on the exterior of the building. The blast caused minor damage, and two additional CO² tanks were also reportedly impacted but did not explode.
National Grid responded to the scene and is working alongside fire officials to assess the situation and ensure safety.
This is a developing story, more updates to come as information becomes available.
