Driver Pronounced Dead After Vehicle Leaves Road, Hits Tree in Herkimer

HERKIMER, N.Y. — A fatal crash occurred Wednesday afternoon in the village of Herkimer, prompting an ongoing investigation by State Police.

At approximately 3:27 p.m. on June 18, troopers responded to West German Street after a vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. According to the preliminary report, the vehicle was traveling eastbound when it veered off the north shoulder and crashed.

The driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, was transported to Wynn Hospital by ambulance. Tragically, they were pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Authorities say more details will be released as the case develops.
