August 8, 2025

ROME, NY — A late-night dispute outside the Ramblin Inn turned dangerous early Friday morning, leaving one man with serious injuries and police searching for the driver responsible.

Around 2:00 a.m. on August 8, 2025, officers were called to the bar on North James Street for a reported disturbance. While responding, officers received word of a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian at the same location.

Investigators say the trouble started inside the Ramblin Inn and spilled out into the street, where tensions escalated. At one point, a suspect got behind the wheel of a vehicle and began speeding up and down North James Street in front of the bar.

Police believe the victim stepped into the roadway to confront the driver and was struck. The suspect then fled before officers arrived.

The victim suffered a fractured lower leg, spinal fractures, and a bruised chest, and was taken for medical treatment.

Rome Police are asking anyone with information to call their TIP Line at (315) 339-7744 or Mohawk Valley Crime Stoppers at 1-866-730-8477. All tips remain anonymous.
