Vermont Man Arrested After Crack Cocaine, Nearly $28K Seized During NY Traffic Stop

PLEASANT VALLEY, NY — A Vermont man is facing drug charges after a traffic stop on a New York highway led to the discovery of narcotics and a large amount of cash.
According to New York State Police, the incident occurred on Sunday, August 3, at approximately 9:18 p.m., when troopers pulled over a Chevrolet Impala on the Taconic State Parkway for multiple traffic violations.
The driver, identified as Maynard Davis, 48, of Brandon, Vermont, was accompanied by a female passenger, also from Vermont. During the stop, a police K9 named Jet was deployed and alerted troopers to the presence of narcotics.
A search of the vehicle revealed approximately 72 grams of crack cocaine and $27,860 in cash, believed to be connected to drug trafficking. Davis was taken into custody at the scene.
He was later arraigned in the Town of Stanford Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail, pending further legal proceedings.
