WATERVLIET, NY — A 9-year-old girl found dead inside a home in upstate New York has been identified as Nathalia Warner, according to the New York State Police.
Officers were called to the residence on 2nd Avenue in Watervliet on Saturday, August 2, to assist with a death investigation. The child was transported to Samaritan Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The case was later handed over to New York State Police, who are continuing the investigation in coordination with local law enforcement. Authorities said there is no threat to public safety.
An autopsy was conducted on August 4 by Dr. Kristen Landi at Albany Medical Center. Preliminary findings determined the cause of death to be chronic constipation, with the manner of death listed as natural causes. The final autopsy report is pending additional laboratory results.
That same day, following an investigation into the home’s living conditions, Jennifer Singleton, 37, and Harold Warner, 33, were arrested by State Police. Both lived at the residence with Nathalia and another child.
They were each charged with two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. After being processed at SP Latham, both were released on appearance tickets and are scheduled to appear in Watervliet City Court on August 19, 2025.
The Albany County Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) was notified and responded to the home to ensure the safety of the surviving child.
The investigation remains ongoing.
