Three Injured, Including Two Children, After Car Collides with Horse-Drawn Buggy in Clayton

Clayton, NY – June 11, 2025 — State Police responded to a serious collision on County Route 3 in the town of Clayton Wednesday afternoon, involving a car and a horse-drawn buggy.
According to investigators, the crash occurred at approximately 3:46 p.m. when a 2023 Dodge Challenger, traveling westbound, struck a buggy that was also heading west on the same road. The impact ejected all three occupants from the buggy.
Emergency medical personnel treated the victims at the scene before transporting them by ambulance to Samaritan Hospital. Two of the victims, a five-year-old and a four-year-old child, sustained serious but non-life-threatening head injuries. They were later transferred to Upstate Hospital in Syracuse for further care. The third individual, believed to be the operator of the buggy, was also treated at Samaritan Hospital.
The driver of the Dodge Challenger was not injured in the crash.
The horse pulling the buggy sustained serious injuries and was treated at the scene by a veterinarian before being removed from the area.
The incident remains under investigation. State Police say charges are pending.
