ALBANY, N.Y. — May 14, 2025 – Governor Kathy Hochul announced Wednesday that inflation relief checks will be mailed to approximately 8.2 million New Yorkers this fall. The one-time payments are part of the state’s effort to help residents cope with the continued effects of inflation.
Checks will be distributed in October and November, with refund amounts ranging from $150 to $400, depending on income and filing status.
Here’s how the refund amounts break down:
• Single filers earning up to $75,000 will receive $200
• Single filers earning over $75,000 up to $150,000 will receive $150
• Joint filers earning up to $150,000 will receive $400
• Joint filers earning over $150,000 up to $300,000 will receive $300
Eligible residents do not need to apply to receive the refund. Checks will be sent automatically based on income information from tax filings.
